Gurgaon: Administration in Gurgaon has made it mandatory for all housing societies to install CCTV cameras in their premises. Shekhar Vidyarthi, District Commissioner issued the order which also includes covering pubs and bars with CCTV network.

Currently a large number of housing societies do not have CCTV coverage. Various Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) have welcomed the decision of installing CCTV cameras in the societies. Installation of CCTV cameras will cost each society around Rs 30,000.

The latest order will be of great help in investigations of thefts and burglaries. “CCTVs should not just be installed at entry or exit gates but also inside the colony, covering corridors and other places,” said a resident of sector 4.
